CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- SPX Corporation (NYSE: SPW) today announced that its Board of Directors has elected David V. Singer as an additional member of the company's Board of Directors. Mr. Singer will stand for re-election at the company's 2013 Annual Meeting for a term expiring in 2016.

Mr. Singer, 57, is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Snyder's-Lance, Inc., a manufacturer and marketer of snack foods throughout the United States and internationally. Mr. Singer has served as a Director of Snyder's-Lance since 2003 and as CEO since 2005.

Mr. Singer previously served as Chief Financial Officer of Charlotte-based Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, a beverage manufacturer and distributor, from 2001 to 2005.

"Dave Singer brings extensive management and financial experience to SPX's Board of Directors, along with deep knowledge of the global food and beverage industry," said Christopher J. Kearney, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SPX.
