Southside Bancshares Inc. announced that B.G. Hartley has been elevated to the position of Chairman Emeritus effective January 1, 2015. The Board has elected Joe Norton as the Chairman and Bob Garrett as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, both effective January 1, 2015. B.G. Hartley was CEO of Southside Bank since its opening in 1960, serving in that capacity until he retired in 2012 and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors through 2014. He is currently a member of the
Board of Directors of ETMC Regional Healthcare System and past Chairman of the Texas Taxpayers and Research Association. Joe Norton was Vice Chairman of the Southside Bancshares Inc. Board of Directors from May 2014 to December 2014. He is past Vice Chairman of the Board of Regents, East Texas State University (Texas A&M - Commerce) and serves as Vice President of Development on the Board of Trustees for All Saints Episcopal School of Tyler. Bob Garrett has served on the Board of Directors of Southside Bancshares Inc. and Southside Bank since 2009. He is a director of T.B. Butler Publishing Inc., a member of the board of the Tyler Economic Development Council and the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute. He is a past President of both the Tyler Area Builders Association and the Texas Association of Builders.
