Snam, Stogit gas stocks at end 2022 at 84 percent

Natural gas inventories at the end of December 2022 in Snam subsidiary Stogit's storage facilities amounted to 9.3 billion cubic meters, to which 4.5 billion cubic meters of strategic storage should be added, representing a filling to 84 percent from 68 percent a year earlier.

Snam says this in a note, noting that this is about 2.6 billion more than the 6.7 billion cubic meters of storage detected at the end of December 2021.

Seventy percent of the gas volume is located at sites in the Po Valley while the remaining 30 percent is in the Abruzzo field of Fiume Treste, in the province of Chieti.

"Based on last December's preliminary data, gas consumption in the fourth quarter of 2022 was about 16.9 billion cubic meters, a saving of 5.6 billion cubic meters compared to 22.5 billion cubic meters in the corresponding quarter of 2021," Snam says.
