SMARTRAC and TADBIK Group Support NFC Rollout in Israel SMARTRAC N.V., the leading developer, manufacturer, and supplier of RFID transponders and inlays, and TADBIK Group today announced the successful support of an NFC tag package rollout in Israel.

Orange Israel, one of the largest mobile carriers in Israel, introduced an NFC tag package to its country-wide customer base in October 2012. The Orange NFC stickers package contains three NFC stickers equipped with SMARTRAC NFC inlays. SMARTRAC supplied the project with Circus NTAG 203 NFC inlays while TADBIK Group collaborated with NFC Israel to support the rollout. This was achieved by encoding the inlays and by printing and converting them into stickers, packed in the high-end printed package.

The three NFC stickers are preconfigured with a set of activities. Users can interact with the preconfigured content or overwrite it using a dedicated app called Orange NFC app. The Orange NFC app is preinstalled on Orange Israel's Android based NFC phones and can also be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

The end user can use the NFC stickers in a variety of ways. By tapping the sticker, users can, for example, open an installed app, enable or disable WiFi/Bluetooth, display text, open a URL, set an alarm, and more. Users can also define "duo actions" - meaning that a sticker will cause the NFC-enabled phone to perform one set of actions on the first tap and a different set of actions on the second tap. The "duo action" can, for example, be used to reduce the phone's ring volume at night and turn it back up again in the morning.

The Orange tag package has generally received great feedback from end users, who recognize the "cool" and "comfortable" underlying concept. The package is available through Orange points of sale throughout the country at NIS 39 (about USD 10). The pack was also included for free with Orange's successful private labeled NFC-enabled handset - infinity from Orange.
