SkyWest Inc. reported traffic results for the month and year to date December 2012. For the month, the company reported that passenger boardings increased 5.1% to 4,784,336 compared to 4,552,494 for the same period last year. The company also reported a 1.6% increase in revenue passenger miles of 2,441,508,282 compared to 2,404,226,526 in 2011, while available seat miles decreased 0.5% to 3,046,921,124 compared to 3,062,891,993 in December 2011. The combined airlines generated 2.4 billion RPMs for the month, while ASMs increased to 3.0 billion. Load factor increased to 80.1 compared to 78.5 in December 2011. SkyWest also reported an increase of 2.2% in departures to 117,067 for December compared to 114,513 for the same period last year.
For the year to date, the company reported that passenger boardings increased 5.3% to 58,803,690 compared to 55,836,271 for the same period last year. The company also reported a 3.4% increase in revenue passenger miles of 30,088,278,246 compared to 29,109,039,290 in 2011, while available seat miles increased 1.6% to 37,278,554,475 against 36,698,858,901 a year ago. Load factor increased to 80.8 compared to 79.4 against a year ago. The company also reported an increase of 3.2% in departures to 1,435,512 compared to 1,390,523 for the same period last year.
SkyWest, Inc. is the holding company for SkyWest Airlines, Inc. (SkyWest Airlines) and SkyWest Leasing, Inc. (SkyWest Leasing), an aircraft leasing company. The Company operates through two segments: SkyWest Airlines and SWC, and SkyWest Leasing. SkyWest Airlines offers scheduled passenger service to destinations in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Company's flights are operated as United Express, Delta Connection, American Eagle or Alaska Airlines flights under code-share agreements with United Airlines, Inc., Delta Air Lines, Inc., American Airlines, Inc. or Alaska Airlines, Inc., respectively. SkyWest Airlines has a fleet of approximately 500 aircraft. SkyWest Charter, LLC (SWC) offers on-demand charter service using CRJ200 aircraft in a 30-seat configuration. SkyWest Leasing finances new aircraft with debt under its capacity purchase agreements, consisting of its E175 aircraft. SkyWest Leasing is also engaged in leasing aircraft and engines to third parties.
