After being introduced to the poultry industry by a family friend, Kenny and Cindy Hoang decided to leave the consumer retail business and begin their careers as poultry farmers. The Hoangs purchased a four-house breeder farm in Calvert, Texas, and have been growing chickens for Sanderson Farms full-time since 2017.

The Hoangs have been married for 36 years, and they have one adult child. Daily operations of the farm are managed by the Hoangs, their siblings and their siblings' spouses. In their spare time, they enjoy cooking, shopping, relaxing and spending time with family.

Over the years, the Hoangs have seen technology advance in poultry farming and, as a result, they believe their farming practices have improved and progressed thanks to updated technology and computerized equipment. With the updated technology, the Hoangs are able to constantly monitor their flocks to ensure the birds are healthy. Despite daily challenges on the farm, they feel satisfied with the reward of raising healthy, productive birds.

"The biggest responsibility is running the farm and making sure everything is working correctly," said Cindy Hoang. "It might be a lot of work in the beginning, but it's very rewarding in the end." The Hoangs enjoys working with the flock supervisors at Sanderson Farms and learning new methods and techniques for raising their flocks.

Consistent with the company's animal welfare standards, Hoang believes that animals should be treated with respect. "We take really good care of our chickens," said Hoang. "We take care of the chickens with a lot of love and care when raising them for our consumers."

The Hoang family enjoys the stability of raising chickens, and encourages other growers to learn as much as they can and work hard. They believe that farming instills the values of a strong work ethic and personal responsibility. For the Hoangs, they get satisfaction from their work because they are providing food for America and the world.

"We are so proud to be growers for Sanderson Farms," said Hoang. "Every season we learn so much more because the production team for Sanderson Farms is amazing. Everyone in the Waco division has been helpful. We are a community working together."
