RWE Dea has donated auxiliary supplies for physically challenged persons to the 'Centre of Support of Disabled Persons of Turkmenistan' in Ashgabat. In addition, the German oil and gas utility will make six new transport vehicles available to a sports facility for disabled persons in Ashgabat. Moreover, the company supports the UNICEF project 'Facts for Life' in Turkmenistan by providing the printing of 20,000 copies of this publication.

RWE Dea has delivered a total of 265 wheelchairs and 200 hearing aids to the Turkmen aid organisation 'Centre of Support of Disabled Persons of Turkmenistan' in the nation's capital, Ashgabat. These auxiliary supplies are distributed throughout the country for the benefit of needy children and adults with physical disabilities. As part of the official presentation of the wheelchairs and hearing aids, an event was held with various competitions for handicapped sportspeople. The new sport wheelchairs that were part of the auxiliary supplies handed over by RWE Dea were also put to good use at this event.

"It's a matter of course for us to assume social responsibility in countries in which we operate," said Peter Immerz, General Manager of RWE Dea Turkmenistan. "By supporting carefully selected projects, we would like to make a sustainable contribution to the social and economic development of these countries," Immerz continued. "Non-profit organisations such as the 'Centre of Support' and the 'Central Sport Club for disabled people of Turkmenistan' are two institutions we assist and endorse. They are institutions that operate with excellence in the interests of rehabilitation and social integration of disabled children and adults."

In addition to the wheelchairs and hearing aids that have just been delivered, RWE Dea plans to equip the 'Central Sport Club for disabled people of Turkmenistan' with six mini-buses in early in 2013. RWE Dea will be making a much needed transport vehicle available to the sport club for disabled people at each of its branches in the five provinces of Turkmenistan as well as in the capital, Ashgabat.

Another project supported by the German company is the Turkmen circulation of the global publication 'Facts for Life', for which RWE Dea has pledged to provide the printing of 20,000 copies. "This extensive manual, initiated and produced inter alia by UNICEF and the World Health Organisation, already performs very important educational work in many parts of the world concerning all issues relating to health and raising newborn babies and infants," explains Peter Immerz.

RWE Dea has had an office in the capital, Ashgabat, since 2009. At present, 17 local and 4 international employees work for RWE Dea in Turkmenistan. The location is planned to grow further. In August 2012, the company completed its seismic surveys in the licence territory Block 23 and it now plans to drill an exploration well in 2013.
