RFM Exhibit at Design West 2012 is Packed with Wireless M2M Demonstrations Includes Frequency Hopping to the Cloud and Back, Wi-Fi? Sensor Networking, Wi-Fi + Bluetooth? Low Energy, and More
SAN JOSE, Calif. ? March 27, 2012 --RF Monolithics, Inc. (NASDAQ: RFMI) (?RFM? or ?the Company?), a world-wide leader in a broad range RF technologies for machine-to-machine (M2M) and wireless communications, announces that M2M expert Tim Cutler, Director of M2M Business for RFM, will be performing live demonstrations of the company?s premier Wi-Fi sensor networking and frequency hopping-based technologies at UBM Electronics? Design West Conference and Exhibition Tuesday - Thursday, March 27 - 29, 2012 (booth 1725, McEnery Convention Center, San Jose, California). RFM is also showcasing the company?s line of Wi-Fi + Bluetooth Combination Modules, the WLS-Series, that now includes Bluetooth Low Energy v4.0 (BLE).
?Each unique demonstration illustrates the wireless-made-easy features that OEM design engineers and application developers are looking for when enabling wireless connectivity into their products,? said Mr. Cutler.
Frequency Hopping Sensor (FHSS) Networking to the Cloud and
Back
As pressure has increased in manufacturing for obtaining
operational efficiency, demand has increased for M2M products
that integrate sensors with FHSS radio modules in a single
solution. The FHSS Sensor Networking to the Cloud and Back
demo features the RFM LG24E and illustrates the ease through
which data is transmitted to the cloud or internal network
via RFM?s FHSS-based networking devices.
Low-Power Wi-Fi Sensor Monitoring
A high-demand application in M2M is temperature sensing that
leverages existing WLAN infrastructure. The Wi-Fi Sensor
Monitoring demo will display how the RFM 802.11b/g/n module
(WSN802G) easily embeds into the end-application without the
need for programming or a co-processor.
Wi-Fi + Bluetooth Combo Modules Now with BLE
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are extending the edge of M2M to
human-to-machine, especially in a variety of medical and
healthcare, sports and wellness, consumer, and commercial
applications. With the recent Bluetooth SIG release of v4.0
BLE, the new BLE feature is particularly attractive because
it allows OEMs to design wireless devices that are smaller
than ever and yet last longer. RFM is exhibiting the complete
line of WLS-Series Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Bluetooth modules.
