South Sharpley Wind Farm generating energy

We are excited to announce that as of today, the South Sharpley Wind Farm has now started supplying clean, safe, renewable energy.

South Sharpley comprises of three turbines, each measuring 100m to the tip of the blade.

As a part of the wind farm development, REGhas created three ponds on a section of the site specifically for reptile habitat.

A Community Fund has also been established to support good causes local to the wind farm. REGWindpower will donate £150,000 over the wind farm's expected 25-year lifetime to help fund worthwhile projects in our host and neighbouring parishes. £6,000 will be distributed every year of the wind farm's operating life by the Durham Community Foundation. Please see our community page for more information and for information on how to apply.

REGWindpower would like to thank everyone in the local area for their patience during the building work. We will continue to update this site with news about the wind farm and the Community Fund, and we look forward to further involvement with the local community.
