Vantaa Energy has chosen
Vantaa Energy's goal is to produce carbon-negative energy by 2030. In the project at the power plant in Martinlaakso, a large-scale electric boiler of 60 MW and a district heating battery of 700 MWh are now being built.
"At Vantaa, we are building a hybrid system, that sometimes runs with electricity, sometimes with other production methods - always as smart and efficiently as possible. The system relies on the use of emission free methods of energy production and on the storage of energy. Electric production of heating is an important part of our goal to be a carbon-negative energy company in 2030," says Kalle Patomeri, Business Director, Energy and Circular Economy at Vantaa Energy.
The electric boiler adapts its operation to the need for district heating and the price of electricity, which means that production can be optimized. The energy is stored in a district heating battery and released when the demand for district heating increases. This enables the storage of renewable energy from sources such as wind and solar, contributing to more sustainable energy production.
"Vantaa Energy's electric boiler project is a full-scale EPCM project, where our project management professionals are responsible for, among other things, project management, procurement, detail engineering, construction management, site supervision and commissioning. This is our first major project delivery to Vantaa Energy and, at the same time, a significant step for us towards an even stronger position as a supplier of industrial EPCM projects," says
