(Alliance News) - Sustainable Ethical Recovery Spa has announced the start-up of the plastics washing and granulation plant at the Pettoranello del Molise industrial site, which will enable the regeneration of rigid plastic packaging - mainly PET, HDPE and PP - into thin and small flakes while simultaneously performing washing.

The investment, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and resulting beneficiary of a EUR9.6 million co-funding from the PNRR, represents the second pillar of the company's industrial project that sees the Pettoranello del Molise site included in the broader project of an integrated center for the selection, management, treatment and transformation of plastics into secondary raw materials and to the recovery of process waste by transformation into pyrolytic oil for the plastics industry.

The plant, supplied by technology provider Sorema - Previero Group, based on a fully automated system and equipped with Tomra technology optical selectors, has a production capacity of 8,200 tons/year and will be fed by the bales of PET, HDPE and PP pressed in the previous selection stage.

These will be sent to the washing line and subjected to a series of mechanical and thermal processing to arrive at extremely high quality recycled PET, HDPE and PP flakes to be fed into the secondary raw materials market, which, according to industry estimates, expects demand to double by 2030.

RES is flat at EUR5.95 per share.
