BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Jan 24, 2014) - Putnam Investments and the Board of Trustees of the Putnam Funds today announced that the annual meetings of shareholders of each of Putnam High Income Securities Fund (NYSE: PCF), Putnam Managed Municipal Income Trust (NYSE: PMM), Putnam Master Intermediate Income Trust (NYSE: PIM), Putnam Municipal Opportunities Trust (NYSE: PMO), and Putnam Premier Income Trust (NYSE: PPT) will be held on April 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., Boston time, at the principal offices of the funds, One Post Office Square, Boston, Massachusetts. Shareholders of record at the close of business on January 29, 2014 will be entitled to be present and to vote at the meetings or any adjourned meetings. 

At this time it is expected that these meetings will consider (i) fixing the number of Trustees and electing Trustees (applicable to all five funds); (ii) a "sunroofing," or "lifeboat," proposal relating to conversion of the fund from a closed-end structure to an open-end structure, as required by each fund's declaration of trust (applicable only to Putnam High Income Securities Fund, Putnam Master Intermediate Income Trust, and Putnam Premier Income Trust); and (iii) an amended and restated declaration of trust (applicable to all five funds), as well as certain amendments, which shareholders will be asked to consider separately, to certain of these funds' declarations of trust (applicable only to Putnam High Income Securities Fund, Putnam Managed Municipal Income Trust, Putnam Master Intermediate Income Trust, and Putnam Premier Income Trust). 

Combined proxy solicitation materials for all five funds relating to the matters to be considered at the annual meetings are expected to be mailed to shareholders in the coming weeks. 

Putnam High Income Securities Fund, Putnam Managed Municipal Income Trust, Putnam Master Intermediate Income Trust, and Putnam Premier Income Trust--Dates for receipt of shareholder proposals. Each of Putnam High Income Securities Fund, Putnam Managed Municipal Income Trust, Putnam Master Intermediate Income Trust, and Putnam Premier Income Trust must receive any shareholder proposals to be included in the combined proxy statement for the fund's annual meeting on or before February 3, 2014. In order for a shareholder proposal to be included in the combined proxy statement, both the submitting shareholder and the proposal must satisfy the requirements set forth in Rule 14a-8 under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended. A shareholder who wishes to make a proposal at a fund's annual meeting -- other than one that will be included in the funds' combined proxy materials -- should notify the fund no later than February 3, 2014. A fund may exclude from the proxy materials and consideration at a meeting certain proposals as permitted by Securities and Exchange Commission rules and state law. A shareholder who wishes to propose one or more nominees for election as Trustees, or to make a proposal fixing the number of Trustees, at a fund's annual meeting must provide written notice to the fund (including all information required under the fund's Bylaws) so that such notice is received in good order by the fund no later than February 3, 2014.

Putnam Municipal Opportunities Trust--Dates for receipt of shareholder proposals. Putnam Municipal Opportunities Trust must have received any shareholder proposals to be included in the proxy statement for the fund's annual meeting on or before November 20, 2013, as was indicated in the proxy statement for the fund's April 2013 annual meeting. A shareholder who wishes to make a proposal at the fund's annual meeting -- other than one that will be included in the fund's proxy materials -- should notify the fund no later than February 3, 2014, as was indicated in the proxy statement for the fund's April 2013 annual meeting. The fund may exclude from the proxy materials and consideration at a meeting certain proposals as permitted by Securities and Exchange Commission rules and state law. A shareholder who wishes to propose one or more nominees for election as Trustees, or to make a proposal fixing the number of Trustees, at the fund's annual meeting must provide written notice to the fund (including all information required under the fund's Bylaws) so that such notice is received in good order by the fund no earlier than January 25, 2014 and no later than February 24, 2014, as was indicated in the proxy statement for the fund's April 2013 annual meeting.
