PTBA corporate secretary Adib Ubaidillah said that until now the PPA revision process has not yet begun. However, talk with PLN has been done informally.

'Draft revision of PPA has been submitted to the PLN,' said Adib Ubaidillah as quoted by Kontan in early January.

In the draft that has been submitted, PTBA try to revise the conditions for the completion of the funding (financial closing). One of them is the project subsea direct current transmission (high voltage direct current/HVDC) 500 kilovolt (kV) plan would generate electricity from Sumatra to Java.

For information, initially, the electricity from the Sumsel 8 power plant are to be channeled into Java via HVDC. However, HVDC project was delayed due PLN consider Sumatra need more electricity from new plants there.

Sumsel 8 power plant is scheduled to operate in 2021. The schedule backtrack two years from the initial planning, namely 2019.

Related PLN request to change the specification power plant of 2x620 megawatts (MW) to 3x400 MW, Adib said there has been no official information. He said he was unmoved and still adhered to the initial plan.
