PT Bank Central Asia Tbk : Promote UMKM Product Quality Improvement in Samarinda, BCA Holds a Free Halal Certification Workshop for 131 Participants

Samarinda, 21 June 2024 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the development of UMKM (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in Indonesia through the 2024 UMKM Halal Certification Workshop. The event, held at Hotel Aston Samarinda on Thursday (20/6), was attended by 131 UMKM entrepreneurs. Previously, the BCA Halal Certification Workshop was conducted in Makassar, Bali, and West Jakarta in May and will continue across Indonesia.

At the event, BCA also provided business credit worth up to IDR 500 million for entrepreneurs in the bakery industry. The symbolic handover of BCA KUR was carried out by BCA Region XI Business Development Head Lunardi and BCA Samarinda Head of the Main Branch Office Ade Bachtiar to debtor Elyzabeth.

"Recognizing the importance of access to information on halal certification for UMKM entrepreneurs, BCA continues its commitment by holding the 2024 UMKM Halal Certification Workshop. Through this activity, the company not only provides direct access to UMKM in Samarinda to understand the self-declaration halal certification process but also educates them on the importance of halal standards in improving product quality," explained Ade Bachtiar.

In the BCA UMKM Halal Certification Workshop 2024, the company supported the participants by covering the costs of halal certification. Participants also had the opportunity to receive several attractive offers, such as online account opening, online BCA Credit Card application, activation of QRIS payment methods, and access to business financing and other consumer products.

Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest Muslim population in the world. According to the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs of the Republic of Indonesia survey, an average business turnover increased by 8.5% after obtaining a halal certificate. In line with this, BCA is committed to continuing the UMKM halal certification program. Throughout 2023, BCA conducted workshops and facilitated the issuance of 1,000 halal certificates for UMKM, predominantly involving women, across 10 cities/districts in nine provinces throughout Indonesia. This effort

placed BCA in the second national rank in 2023 for institutions with the highest number of halal certificates.

As of March 2024, BCA's MSME financing increased by 12.1% YoY, reaching IDR 117.7 trillion. Meanwhile, by May 2024, BCA had distributed business credit amounting to IDR 382 billion, an increase of 57.6% YoY. BCA aims to distribute business credit up to IDR 800 billion this year, an increase of about 11% from the previous year.

"BCA believes UMKM Halal Certification Workshop 2024 will have a significant positive impact on UMKM in Samarinda and across Indonesia. We hope this activity will not only provide a deep understanding of halal certification but also encourage UMKM to improve product quality and reach a broader market," concluded Ade Bachtiar.
