NEWARK, N.J., Jan. 12, 2021 - Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU) has promoted Alan Sexton to the role of chief communications officer, effective Dec. 1, 2020. Sexton is responsible for leveraging the company's recently integrated Communications function to provide a competitive advantage to Prudential and its diversified businesses, and to protect and enhance the company's reputation around the world.

Sexton joined Prudential in 2018 with more than 20 years of communications and corporate affairs experience. Since then, he has led communications for Prudential's domestic and international businesses, including its global asset management arm, PGIM, while also serving as head of strategy for the Communications function. In his new role, Sexton will report to Prudential's vice chair, Rob Falzon.

Prior to Prudential, Sexton held leadership positions at several well-known communications, public affairs, and branding consultancies. He led the U.S. corporate and financial practice at Burson-Marsteller (now Burson Cohn & Wolfe), oversaw communications and digital strategy for Global Strategy Group, and co-founded and led public affairs at Ogilvy, New York. Sexton is a graduate of the University of Dublin, Trinity College, and the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
