PGNiG has launched extraction of crude oil and natural gas from the deposit Skarv in Norway. PGNiG owns 11.92% of the Skarv deposit which is operated by BP Norge, Statoil Petroleum and E.ON E&P Norge. The company estimates that earnings from the deposit could amount to USD 400 million to USD 500 million per year within the next three years.

The company started extraction on 31 December 2012. In 2013, it plans to extract about 370,000 tonnes of oil and other fractions, but the figures are to increase in 2014. The increase of extraction from PGNiG's own deposits is part of the concern's strategic goals, which is why the current launch is of particular significance, as Norway is a priority area of the concern's foreign expansion.

The Skarv project is also the first foreign project of the PGNiG group.
