PeerTV signs agreement with Microsoft Corp.'s PlayReady DRM
PeerTV (AIM: PTV), a provider of technology solutions for the OTT (TV over the internet) market, announces that it has licensed Microsoft Corp.'s PlayReady DRM (digital rights management) technology to allow for a greater choice of content protection schemes.
DRM technologies control access to premium content downloaded or streamed over the Internet and is required to broadcast premium TV content.
The deal, which will initially last for three years, extends PeerTV's existing content protection offerings that already include Verimetrix and Microsoft DRM10. PeerTV plans to support PlayReady across its Android based PeerDroid Android set top box (STB) offering later this year.
Commenting on the changes, Moshe Bartov, CEO, PeerTV said:
