SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Pattern Energy Group LP ("Pattern Development" or the "Company") today announced it has entered into a 13-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply power to Amazon Web Services (AWS), an Amazon.com company. AWS will acquire the production from the 150 megawatt (MW) Fowler Ridge IV Wind project, to be renamed Amazon Web Services Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge).

Pattern Development owns 100% of the newly named Amazon Web Services Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge) project, which is located in Benton County, Indiana. Pattern Development expects to begin construction in April and anticipates reaching commercial operation in late 2015 or early 2016.

"We are excited to be working with Amazon Web Services as they progress toward their goal of using 100% renewable energy," said Mike Garland, CEO of Pattern Development. "We commend Amazon Web Services on its vision and leadership in cloud computing and its commitment to sustainability. This project is another example of how Pattern Development is working with some of America's leading corporations to help power their businesses with wind energy."

"Amazon Web Services Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge) brings a new source of clean energy to the electric grid where we currently operate a large number of datacenters and have ongoing expansion plans to support our growing customer base," said Jerry Hunter, Vice President of Infrastructure at Amazon Web Services, Inc. "This PPA helps to increase the renewable energy used to power our infrastructure in the US and is one of many sustainability activities and renewable energy projects for powering our datacenters that we currently have in the works."

Upon completion, the Amazon Web Services Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge) project is expected to generate approximately 500,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of wind power annually - or the equivalent of that used by approximately 46,000 US homes.( [1])

The Amazon Web Services Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge) project has been added by affiliate company Pattern Energy Group Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGI) (TSX: PEG) (Pattern Energy) to its list of identified Right of First Offer (ROFO) projects.
