DistribuTECH, San Antonio, Tex. - Jan. 24, 2012
News Facts
Oracle announced its successful participation in the International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC) Common Information Model (CIM) interoperability testing - demonstrating Oracle's use of CIM standards for the exchange of information supporting smart metering and distribution operations applications.
As utilities continue to roll out smart grid programs, they need scalable, high-performance technology infrastructures to process high volumes of consumption data generated by smart meters. Utilities require solutions that help improve operational efficiency across every department while enabling them to provide their customers with information that helps them monitor and manage their energy use.
IEC is advancing this accurate information exchange through the establishment of CIM standards. This model specifically encourages different utility software applications to exchange information such as distribution network configuration, device status and meter reads in a common, standard format.
