NSK Ltd. Reports Earnings Results for the First Half of Fiscal 2019; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Year of Fiscal 2020

NSK Ltd. reported earnings results for the first half of fiscal 2019. The company reported total sales are at JPY 434.8 billion, an almost 15% decrease year-on-year. Operating income has decreased by nearly 65%. Half year profit declined from JPY 45 billion to JPY 15.8 billion year-on-year.
The company must again revise down its full year sales and profit forecast. This represents a large downward revision of JPY 85 billion against its forecast at the beginning of the year. Furthermore, operating income outlook is now almost half what it initially predicted.
NSK Ltd. specializes in manufacturing and marketing high precision industrial equipments and components. Net sales break down by family of products as follows:
- automotive equipments (55.8%): transmission systems, steering system, needle bearings, etc.;
- industrial machine bearings (40%). The group also provides precision components and machines;
- other (4.3%).
At the end of March 2022, NSK had 66 production sites worldwide.
Net sales break down geographically as follows: Japan (36.7%), China (21%), Asia (14.9%), the Americas (14.5%) and Europe (12.9%).
