Health-care companies rose as the obesity drug craze was set to spread.
Novo Nordisk shares rallied after China approved sales of its weight-loss drug, Wegovy.
Merck Group, the German pharmaceutical company that's not connected to the U.S. company with a similar moniker, declined after it pulled the plug on a late-stage trial of its cancer drug, Xevinapant.
