SNCF Energie, a subsidiary of SNCF Voyageurs, announces that it has signed a 25-year direct renewable electricity purchase agreement (Corporate PPA) with Neoen, France's leading independent producer of renewable energy.

Starting in 2028, the electricity will be generated by Neoen's new 139 MWp solar power plant, which will supply SNCF Voyageurs with 172 gigawatt hours (GWh) of renewable electricity each year.

This purchase agreement will finance a new solar park, with construction starting in early 2026 and commissioning scheduled for 2028, and will have a direct and lasting effect on France's energy transition. The contract will also enable SNCF Voyageurs to make its electricity supply costs less dependent on the volatility of market prices.

This new solar farm, called 'Le Couret', developed by Neoen and located in the Haute Vienne region, will have a capacity of 139 megawatts peak (MWp) and will produce 172 GWh of green electricity per year, equivalent to the electricity consumption of around 67,000 inhabitants (including heating).

For SNCF Voyageurs, the production of this new photovoltaic park is equivalent to its annual electricity needs for the TGV Paris - Marseille link, or the entire needs of its TER trains in the Occitanie and Normandy regions.
