New Year Message by the President (Summary)
? Business Environment
Last year was an election year in various parts of the world and this year will be a year in which policy implementation of new governments gain momentum. On the domestic front, while domestic-demand is showing steady growth, foreign-demand remains on a downward trend due mainly to deceleration of world economy. This situation continues to weaken Japanese manufacturers' competitive edge relative to foreign competitors.
??The direction to move forward
The current severe situation requires strong determination. The measures implemented last year, such as emergency cost-cutting and corporate reorganization, are far from sufficient for the storm ahead of us. The next midterm business plan, which was originally due to start from 2014, must be initiated as early as possible in order to cope with the severer-than-expected business environment.
The next midterm business plan will be a cornerstone for MES Group to survive and create new corporate value. With this plan, the corporate structure will be newly defined through 3 pillars of business strategy, i.e. "Revolutionize manufacturing business", "Expand engineering business" and "Expand IPP and service business (e.g. O&M)".
??In Conclusion
As our future depends on how to deal with the coming storm, the following attitudes are needed more than ever.
- Transcend one's own limit
- Join forces of entire MES group by transcending departmental boundaries
- Move business ahead by transcending the country's border and boundaries of existing customers
The only things you can change are yourself and your future.
With this in mind, this year's slogan is decided to be "Go Beyond Boundaries! "
