Joe Biden announced on Wednesday that he would be traveling to Wisconsin today to formalize a $3.3 billion investment by Microsoft, which plans to establish a new artificial intelligence (AI)-related data center there.

The U.S. president, who is in the midst of an election campaign, points out that the project based in the city of Racine will create some 2,300 jobs during the construction phase, followed by 2,000 permanent positions.

In a statement, Biden adds that the program is intended to replace a project launched six years ago by the Trump administration, which was supposed to lead to the creation of a Foxconn site specializing in the manufacture of LCD screens.

The supposed $10 billion investment - which was supposed to create 13,000 jobs in Racine, had, according to him, never been finalized, costing American taxpayers some $500 million
