MedAssets (NASDAQ: MDAS) today announced that Bruce Moilan, a director on the company's Enterprise Master Data Management team, has been elected as a new member to the GS1 Healthcare U.S. Leadership Team.

The GS1 System of global supply chain data standards has revolutionized efficiency, accuracy and cost-effectiveness in a broad range of industries. Recognizing the impact that industry-wide adoption of a common language can have, GS1 Healthcare U.S. has set out to apply these same standards to helping the healthcare industry improve efficiency and quality for lower costs, more streamlined care delivery and better patient safety.

As part of the GS1 Healthcare U.S. Leadership Team, Moilan will be working proactively with healthcare providers, manufacturers, distributors, group purchasing organizations, industry associations, pharmacies and healthcare professionals to implement and promote GS1 Standards and best practices.

In his role as Director of GS1 Standards at MedAssets, Moilan is spearheading the initiative to acquire Global Data Synchronization Network data from thousands of supplier partners and is implementing GS1 standards internally. As a recognized leader in supply chain management, Moilan has presented at many conferences at the national, state and local levels. He has also developed and implemented numerous training programs to educate employees, providers and suppliers on global data standards and initiatives.
