PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Matthews International Corp. (MATW) on Thursday reported a fiscal first-quarter loss of $10.5 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Pittsburgh-based company said it had a loss of 34 cents. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs and non-recurring costs, came to 47 cents per share.

The casket and memorial manufacturer posted revenue of $364.9 million in the period.

Matthews International shares have fallen roughly 1% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $37.95, a decrease of 16% in the last 12 months.
