MILPITAS, Calif. - FireEye, Inc. (NASDAQ: FEYE), the intelligence-led security company, today announced that the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) enterprise named FireEye® Network Security with SmartVision(TM) as the $500,000 first place winner of the Artificial Intelligence Applications to Autonomous Cybersecurity (AI ATAC) Challenge.

The challenge found FireEye Network Security to deliver the best performance, based on the criteria and cost-benefit framework. The malware collection used also spanned categories likely to be seen in the real-world to produce the most effective evaluation.

This prize follows the March 2020 first place award FireEye received for its Endpoint Security offering in the initial NAVWAR Artificial Intelligence Applications to Autonomous Cybersecurity Challenge.

There is a tremendous amount of untapped cybersecurity information at the network level that can improve situational awareness, provide context for network events, and reveal the presence of adversaries. Managed by Program Executive Office (PEO) for Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (PEO C4I), and specifically the Navy's Cyber Security Program Office (PMW 130), this second instance of AI ATAC explored the capability for network security products to incorporate machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) models to help Security Operations Centers (SOC) automate the detection of advanced persistent threat (APT) campaign activity.

"Every day, FireEye is on the forefront of cyber attacks, conducting investigations, gathering intelligence and tracking adversaries. SmartVision, our machine learning-based analytics and correlation engine, was developed by a world-class team of data scientists to give our clients visibility into suspicious lateral movement within their internal networks, while also detecting malware designed to steal data," said Ramesh Gupta, SVP and GM, Network Security at FireEye. "We are honored to have our leading detection capabilities recognized for what they were designed to do - detect real-world adversarial activity. We are proud to continue to support the Navy and its cyber preparedness initiatives."

FireEye Network Security + FireEye Endpoint Security

The power of these FireEye NAVWAR Prize Challenge victories in two distinct Cyber Security market segments, and their application for enhancing threat detection should not be overshadowed. The combination of FireEye Network Security and FireEye Endpoint Security gives end users unmatched visibility across the full spectrum of potential compromise, resulting in an integrated and continuous correlation of all threat data and indicators of compromise from the boundary to the endpoint.
