Macy's, Inc. is closing six stores nationwide. The company plans to close a Bloomingdale's in Las Vegas and Macy's stores in Pasadena, Calif.; Belmont, Mass.; Honolulu; St. Paul, Minn.; and Houston. The closures will affect more than 630 employees and cost the company about $2 million to $4 million in its fourth quarter.

The retailer, which owns both Macy's and Bloomingdale's, plans to open a new 140,000-square-foot Macy's store at Gurnee Mills in Gurnee in fall 2013, which will employ around 200 associates. It also is planning a new Bloomingdale's Outlet store also set open in fall at Fashion Outlets Chicago now being built in Rosemont. It will be about 25,000 square feet and employ 55 associates. The new location will be the 13th Bloomingdale's Outlets.
The company is also opening stores in Victorville, Calif.; Sarasota, Fla.; Las Vegas and at the Mall at Bay Plaza in Bronx, N.Y.; building a store in Bay Shore, N.Y.; and expanding a store in Las Vegas. New Bloomingdale's stores are being built in Glendale, Calif. and in Palo Alto, Calif.
