Macy's Inc. notified the state Jan. 6, 2017 that it would lay off 100 employees for its Oviedo Marketplace Store at 1400 Oviedo Marketplace Blvd. The layoffs will take effect starting March 6-19, 2017. The company, which has six stores in Central Florida, announced Jan. 4, 2017 that it was closing 68 stores, including five in Florida. The one in Oviedo Marketplace is the only one in Central Florida slated for closure. The company also has layoffs planned for a store in Sarasota, laying off 92 workers there, and another in Tampa, laying off 80 workers there. Both of those locations will close, as well.
