(Alliance News) - Liontrust Asset Management PLC on Wednesday said it has merged its Global Equity and Global Fundamental teams to provide "greater strategic focus" over the next few years.

The London-based asset manager explained the Global Equity team has become part of the Global Fundamental team with immediate effect.

Head of Global Equity Robin Geffen will leave his post in "due course", Liontrust said, after four years with the firm.

The new Global Equity investment team will now report to Tom Record, who is responsible for global equities within the newly enlarged Global Fundamental team.

This excludes Liontrust's Global Technology Trust, which has moved to the Global Innovation team.

"Global equities are a core asset class for investors and we offer a strong proposition across our investment teams. Tom Record has a long track record, having been an investment manager of international equities since 2004," said Chief Executive John Ions.

Shares in Liontrust were up 4.3% to 1,276.00 pence each in London on Wednesday morning.
