LOS ANGELES, Jan. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Foods Co is pleased to announce that it is raising funds to support UC Davis Children's Hospital and UC San Francisco Children's Hospital.

Foods Co customers and associates can support the two children's hospitals through the supermarket chain's nonprofit arm, The Foods Co Fund, by donating their spare change in collection canisters located at the checkstands in their neighborhood Foods Co store. The children's hospital fund-raising campaign runs through May 25, 2013.

"Foods Co believes strongly in giving back to the community," said Bryan Kaltenbach, President of Foods Co. "We're pleased to extend our commitment to support the children's hospitals at UC Davis and UC San Francisco. We cannot think of a better way to invest in our communities than by giving families and children hope through our support of the innovative work these hospitals are doing to provide world-class medical care for children."

Since 2005, Foods Co and its sister company, Southern California-based Food 4 Less, have given more than $1 million to children's hospitals in California.
