PJSC Kazanorgsintez starts up a new line for production of carbon black masterbatch

A new line for production of carbon black masterbatch was started up at the High Density Polyethylene Production Plant (HDPE Plant), PJSC Kazanorgsintez. The production capacity of the newly constructed Line will amount to 20 kta. Equipment manufactured by companies Coperion and Krauss Maffei berstorff (Germany) will be operated at the Line.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company Ruslan Shigabutdinov launched the Line.

The carbon black masterbatch is used for light stabilization of polyethylene being actually natural dye. It is used for the production of black high density polyethylene Grade PE2НТ11-9. This HDPE Grade is meant for production of pipes and fittings for gas distribution networks as well as for production of pressure pipes and fittings.

We remind that this year this PE Grade has received an international certificate of conformity with ISO 9080 requirements. This is the PE Grade for which PJSC Kazanorgsintez was honored with Grand Prix in nomination of 'New Promising Petrochemical Products' at the contest of Tatarstan Petrochemical Forum.

At present, the needs of PJSC Kazanorgsintez for carbon black masterbatch are 17 kta. Thus, the start-up of the new Line will both satisfy the current needs of the Company and increase the production of the pipe grade or, if required, sell carbon black masterbatch to third party purchaser.

There used to be a line for production of carbon black masterbatch at the HDPE Plant, which was started up in 2001. Its capacity did not exceed 10 kta. Shortage of own masterbatch was compensated by means of purchase thereof from other producers. But differences in used equipment and feedstock led to the difference of the quality of masterbatch produced by third party producers from that produced by PJSC Kazanorgsintez. The new Line will allow the Company to ensure required properties for the entire amount of masterbatch.

The Company is as well creating an own tank farm for intermediate storage of feedstock for carbon black masterbatch production with a total capacity of up to 100 tons. A new infrastructure will be as well constructed here in order to accept carbon black in standard railway hoppers from third parties, where necessary. Therefore, the HDPE Plant will ensure a flexible structure for feedstock supply by various means such as road silo trucks, railway hoppers, and in big-bags.
