Johnson Controls is expanding its electronics product portfolio into full in-vehicle infotainment systems for automakers. The company, a leader in automotive interiors and electronics, announced this at the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The company also announced its first, full infotainment system will launch in a 2014 model year vehicle program in North America, Europe and Asia.

Available in model year 2015, the company's 'fusion' approach to driver interaction electronics will allow automakers to achieve the next level of hardware integration while addressing driver safety and information needs. System capability will be further enhanced when these software applications, running on Linux /GENIVI, Android and real-time QNX platforms, do so in a secure mode with hard firewalls. The company's multiple operation system approach and graphics handling capability will deliver the required system performance for automakers.

This fusion approach, coupled with a new, highly adaptive interaction model that covers both cloud and vehicle based information and content sources, will deliver a new level in user experience.
