John Hancock Income Securities Trust (the Fund) is a closed-end management investment company. The Fundâs investment objective is to generate a high level of current income consistent with prudent investment risk. Under normal circumstances, the Fund invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus borrowings for investment purposes) in income securities. The Fund invests approximately 20% of its total assets in preferred securities and common stocks. The Fund invests at least 75% of its net assets (plus borrowings for investment purposes) in debt securities that are rated, at the time of acquisition, investment grade. The Fund can invest approximately 25% of its net assets (plus borrowings for investment purposes) in debt securities that are rated, at the time of acquisition, below investment grade (junk bonds). The Fund may also invest in derivatives, such as swaps, and reverse repurchase agreements. John Hancock Investment Management LLC serves as investment advisor for the Fund.
