Intesa Sanpaolo SpA said Thursday that it would hire a total of 3,500 employees by the end of the first half of 2024 as part of the integration of Unione di Banche Italiane SpA.

The Italian bank said it would proceed with hiring 1,000 people in addition to the 2,500 already envisaged in its agreement with Italian unions and accept more than 7,200 voluntary exits.

"This decision confirms the effective progress of the process for the integration of UBI Banca into the Intesa Sanpaolo Group," it said.
