MYANMAR DRILLING UPDATE: DRILLING COMMENCEMENT OF CHAUK DEVELOPMENT WELL CHK 1165
Interra Resources Limited (the "Company" or "Interra") wishes to inform shareholders that its jointly controlled entity, Goldpetrol Joint Operating Company Inc. ("Goldpetrol"), has commenced drilling infill development well CHK 1165 in the Chauk oil field in Myanmar.
Interra has a 60% interest in the Improved Petroleum Recovery Contract of the Chauk field and also owns 60% of Goldpetrol which is the operator of the field. Interra's share of the cost of drilling will be funded from existing funds on hand. Since CHK 1165 will be drilled using Goldpetrol's Cooper LTO 350 rig, costs are anticipated to be relatively low.
CHK 1165 is to be drilled in the south-central portion of the field to a targeted depth of approximately 2,500 feet and is intended to produce oil from reservoirs that have not been drained by existing wells. The primary targets are a number of sandstone reservoirs which currently produce or have produced oil in the past from seven wells in the same fault block or have tested oil in nearby wells.
Interra estimates that the results of the drilling should be available in approximately six weeks. The Company will announce the results of the drilling operations as soon as they may be ascertained as well as updates reflecting critical or unexpected events during drilling.
