IAG, Australia's largest general insurer, is urging customers in areas affected by heavy rain and wind to contact them for support to lodge their claim, access emergency temporary accommodation and financial assistance as soon as it is safe to do so.

Updated 24 March 2021

IAG has received 5,811 claims so far for damage to homes, properties, and vehicles. If you have been impacted, please contact us soon as possible to lodge your claim.

Customer support

We have a dedicated team managing claims from this event and have allocated additional resources so we can provide our customers with any immediate support they need.

For our NRMA, CGU and WFI customers whose homes are damaged, our priority is ensuring their property is safe.

We encourage our customers to contact us to lodge their claim as soon as possible so we can organise help such as emergency accommodation and financial assistance.

Our assessors and repairers are on standby ready to be on the ground to help our customers once it is safe to enter the affected areas.

Our disaster response customer support program is also available where customers can receive free and confidential counselling by a team of psychologists experienced in providing post-incident support.

Our community partner, The Australian Red Cross has activated their Register.Find.Reunite service for anyone affected by the flooding in NSW. People can visit register.redcross.org.au to register their contact details and let people know they're OK, or to look for their loved ones. Donations platform GIVIT, who we also partner with, is coordinating offers of assistance including cash and item donations using its website givit.org.au.

Please quote Luke Gallagher, Executive General Manager Direct Claims, IAG:

Our immediate priority is the safety of all the impacted communities and we urge everyone to follow the directions of the emergency authorities and to not drive through floodwaters.

We have a dedicated Major Event team focused on providing immediate support for our customers, such as temporary accommodation, and we have all hands on deck to make the process as quick and easy as possible.

The NRMA Insurance helicopter is now being used for NSW emergency services efforts in response to the heavy rain in NSW.

Today our helicopter is evacuating people to safety from flooded areas near Richmond - this included a NSW Fire and Rescue crew.

The helicopter typically helps during bushfire season but can be repurposed to help during other severe weather events.

So please contact us as soon as you can so we can help you with your claim and make sure you're safe and secure.

Our assessors and repairers will be on the ground as soon as it is safe to access the impacted areas.
