Repower has signed agreements with Iberdrola and General Electric for the construction of the Swiss company`s combined cycle power plant in Leverkusen, western Germany. No financial terms were disclosed. The agreements were signed at the end of 2014, after General Electric and Iberdrola were selected as preferred bidders in the spring.

A final decision on the construction is expected to be taken throughout 2015. The plant is expected to have a capacity of more than 570 megawatts and to generate power for around 600,000 households. General Electric will supply its 9HA gas turbine, which has efficiency of more than 61% in combined cycle, as well as long-term maintenance services for the gas and steam turbines.

Iberdrola will be the engineering, procurement and construction contractor.
