HH Social Club Junior Volunteers Learning Hand-in-Hand with Underprivileged Children

Hong Kong, 24 July 2017 - Hopewell Holdings Limited ("Hopewell", SEHK: 54) collaborated again with St. James' Settlement in co-organizing Hopewell Junior Volunteers Programme. Children from underprivileged families and our employees took part in a series of community engagement, arts and culture and environmental protection related activities which offered diversified learning opportunities, encouraged their all-round development and broadened their horizons.

The programme this year included "Kin-Ball Experience Day", "Movie Day" and "Table Manner Workshop and Graduation Ceremony" which were held in March, May and June respectively. It allowed the children to participate in extracurricular activities and gain valuable insight. Primary 3 to 6 students from underprivileged families, HH Social Club volunteers and their children took part in the three activities to pick up a new sport, build team spirit and learn basic table manners.

Around 40 students and volunteers joined the first activity of the programme, "Kin-Ball Experience Day". Kin-Ball is a kind of sports emphasizing teamwork. Through warm-up games by teams, participants acquired basic Kin-Ball skills, built friendship and team spirit.

Hopewell and its subsidiary, The Metroplex, co-organized "Movie Day", hosting around 60 students and volunteers to a 3D movie with soft drinks and popcorn. It provided them an opportunity to enjoy the fun of watching movie. The movie was specially selected to inspire the participants paying attention to the parent-child relationship. A cinema tour was also arranged by The Metroplex, introducing the facilities, services and the operation of the cinema.

Around 50 students and volunteers participated in "Table Manner Workshop and Graduation Ceremony" which was co-organized by Hopewell and its subsidiary, Panda Hotel, as the venue sponsor. Participants attended Table Manner Workshop conducted by Hopewell's hospitality trainees to learn basic table manners and enjoyed western set lunch at the hotel. An interactive game was also held to introduce table manners in different countries. After the

workshop, we arranged a graduation ceremony and card exchanging section. At the graduation ceremony, representatives from Hopewell and St. James' Settlement presented certificates and wooden name badges to the graduates who were awarded for their participation in a series of extracurricular activities.

Ms. Connie Ng, Senior Manager (Charity Services) of St. James' Settlement, said, "We believe that participating in extracurricular activities unlocks the potential of children and enhances their personal development. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the continuous support of Hopewell in organizing the programme which offered learning opportunities for the students from underprivileged families, broadening their horizons."
