Hope, Inc. announced earnings results for the first quarter ended September 30, 2020. For the first quarter, the company reported Net Sales were ¥7,167 million against ¥1,897 million a year ago. Operating profit was ¥686 million against loss of ¥56 million a year ago. Ordinary profit was ¥676 million against loss of ¥55 million a year ago. Profit was ¥483 million against loss of ¥61 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share was ¥80.87 against loss of ¥10.96 a year ago.
Hope Inc is a Japan-based company engaged in advertising, energy and media businesses. The Company operates through three business segments. Energy segment offers GENEWAT, an electricity retail service that helps local governments reduce costs. Advertising segment offers two kinds of services. The smart resource (SR) service purchases advertising space in various media such as homepages owned by local governments, public relations papers, salary statements distributed to public employees, and envelopes and sells them to private companies. The smart creation (SC) service, in the form of collaborative issuance with local governments, recruits advertisers to produce information booklets for residents and donates the booklets to local governments. Media segment utilizes the relationships with local governments cultivated in the advertising business to provide business to government (BtoG) marketing services, Jichitai Works, and Jichitai Works HA x SH information distribution platform.
