Honeywell International Inc. has been selected to provide auxiliary power units for Sichuan Airlines' fleet of Airbus SE's A320 jetliners, the company said Wednesday.

Under the five-year agreement, Charlotte, N.C.-based Honeywell would supply Sichuan Airlines with its 131-9A APUs for 93 new A320s set to enter service by 2025. It will also replace the APUs on Sichuan's existing fleet of 141 A320s.

APUs provide electrical power and air conditioning while an airplane's engines are not running. They are used to provide power and air circulation during boarding, to start the A320's jet engines, and during in-flight emergencies.
