GVK's 330 MW Alaknanda Hydropower Project synchronized with the Northern Grid; commercial production to start soon Hyderabad, April 12, 2015:The first Unit of GVK's 330 MW Alaknanda Hydro Power Company Ltd.'s

project at Shrinagar in Uttarakhand, was successfully synchronized with the Northern Grid on the 10 th of
April,2015, and tested to generate the full rated capacity of 82.5 MW. Post that, some operational tests were also successfully conducted.
A thorough inspection of the machine shall now be carried out before starting commercial production from 13th April,2015. The remaining three units will be sequentially synchronized by the end of June, and full-fledged operations will commence soon after.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. GVK Reddy, founder Chairman and Managing Director, GVK, said, "The successful synchronization is a major milestone for this challenging project which has experienced so many trials and tribulations. I would like to congratulate all our project staff at GVK's Alaknanda Hydro Power Company, who were involved in the execution, construction and commissioning of this major hydro power project."
GVK's 330 MW hydropower project consists of four units of 82.5 MW each, and is situated on the river Alaknanda at Shrinagar in Tehri / Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. The unique feature of this project i s that it has a 90 m high dam (from the deepest foundation level). Besides gainful employment to locals, the project will provide clean energy through the Northern Grid. A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been signed with the state of Uttar Pradesh, and 12 per cent output will be given free to the state of Uttarakhand.
