AXA Cooperative Insurance Company announced earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2016. For the quarter, the company announced net profit before Zakat of SAR 8,713,000 compared to SAR 5,250,000 for the same period a year ago. Net written premiums were SAR 100,323,000 compared to SAR 111,304,000 for the same period a year ago. Net profit of shareholders capital investment was SAR 2,585,000 compared to SAR 46,000 for the same period a year ago. The increase in net profit before zakat can be attributed to increase in investment income (policy holders & shareholders combined) by SAR 4.6 million in current quarter as compared to same quarter of last year. For the full year, the company announced net profit before Zakat of SAR 42,677,000 compared to SAR 27,855,000 for the same period a year ago. Net written premiums were SAR 1,060,142,000 compared to SAR 1,002,020,000 for the same period a year ago. Net profit of shareholders capital investment was SAR 8,929,000 compared to SAR 7,618,000 for the same period a year ago. Earnings per share were SAR 0.95 compared to SAR 0.64 for the same period a year ago. The increase in net profit before zakat can be attributed to improvement in overall claim ratio which improved from 83% in 2015 to 82% in 2016. This improvement is mainly contributed by better claim ratio in accident and liability, motor and marine segments. In addition, increase in investment income (policy holders & shareholders combined) by SAR 9.5 million in current period as compared to corresponding period of last year.
