Gensource Potash Corporation announced on January 9, 2017 it has successfully completed the two-well exploration drilling program at its Vanguard project area in central Saskatchewan. The program builds upon the two wells drilled on the property in 2012, and will enable Gensource to advance the determination of the resource extent, grade, and ultimately allow for updating and issuing of a revised resource estimate report. The producer is undertaking a feasibility study, which is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter 2017, using an anticipated output of 250,000 tonnes/year. It will also focus on utilising a mining method of selective dissolution using horizontal caverns which Gensource believes will significantly reduce environmental impacts as there will be no salt tailings on surface, no brine ponds and no requirement for fresh surface water consumption.
