BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) _ First Interstate BancSystem Inc. (FIBK) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $46.9 million.

The bank, based in Billings, Montana, said it had earnings of 76 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 79 cents per share.

For the year, the company reported profit of $161.2 million, or $2.53 per share. Revenue was reported as $653.7 million.

First Interstate BancSystem shares have fallen 2% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $39.89, an increase of 3% in the last 12 months.
