First Al-Noor Modaraba informed Pakistan Stock Exchange that Mr. Zia I. Zakaria has been appointed as Chairman of the Company with effect from June 08, 2020 in place of Mr. Ismail H. Zakaria.

The First Al-Noor Modaraba is a company incorporated in Pakistan formed under the Modaraba Companies and Modaraba Floatation and Control Ordinance, 1980 and the rules framed thereunder and is managed by Al-Noor Modaraba Management Private Limited. The Modaraba is a multipurpose perpetual modaraba and is primarily engaged in ijarah financing, musharikah, murabaha, musawamah, modaraba, equity investment, Ijarah and trading activities. The registered office of the company is located in Karachi. The Modaraba was floated on October 19, 1992 and commenced its business on November 02, 1992. The stocks of the company are quoted on the Karachi and Lahore Stock Exchanges of Pakistan.

First Al-Noor Modaraba (FAM) is primarily engaged in providing various Islamic financial services, such as Ijarah financing, Musharakah, Diminishing Musharakah, Murabaha, Musawamah, equity investment and other shariâah compliant trading activities. It operates through four segments: Trading, Financing, Investments and Ijarah. Trading segment is engaged in importing and distribution of rice. Financing segment comprises Musharakah, Diminishing Musharakah, Musawamah. Investments segment focuses in realized and unrealized gain on investments and dividend income. Ijarah segment is engaged in Ijarah financing. The ijarah product is a contract where the financier buys and leases equipment or other assets to the business owner for a fee or more often called rental income. The Murabaha product is a non-participatory mode of Islamic financing. The Musharakah is a contractual relationship formed through mutual consent of the parties for sharing of profits and losses in a joint venture.
