Maranello, 11 January 2018 - The Sprint Cup of the Blancpain GT Series again saw great performances from the 488 GT3s of Rinaldi Racing in the Pro-Am Cup and of Kessel Racing in the Am Cup class. In the Pro-Am Cup the German team's car was crewed by Daniel Keilwitz and Alexander Mattschull while their Swiss rivals entered Carlo Van Dam and Piti Bhirombhakdi. The two duos battled it out in all five races on the calendar with Rinaldi Racing taking the Main Race in Misano and both races at Brands Hatch, the Hungaroring and Nurburgring. Van Dam and Bhirombhakdi won the Qualifying Race at Zolder and were perennially on the podium remaining in the title fight until the last race of the season, while teammates Michael Broniszewski and Giacomo Piccini triumphed in the Qualifying Race at Misano and the Main Race at Zolder. Kessel Racing had no rivals for the title in the Am Cup, winning it with the South African David Perel and US driver Stephen Earle at the wheel of a 458 Italia GT3.
