Room 77, Inc. announced that it will raise $30,297,703 in an equity round of funding on December 19, 2012. The round will see participation from 38 investors. The securities will be issued pursuant to Regulation D.
On January 3, 2013, Room 77, Inc. closed the transaction. The company raised funds in its series C round of funding led by new investor Expedia Inc. The transaction also saw participation from existing investors Felicis Ventures, Sutter Hill Ventures, General Catalyst Partners, Concur Technologies, Inc., Investment Arm, Rich Barton, Erik Blachford, and Spencer Rascoff. The company has raised $43,800,000 till date. As a part of the transaction Jim White, managing director of Sutter Hill Ventures joined company's board of directors.
Expedia Group, Inc. is one of the leading online travel agencies. The activity is organized around three areas:
- sales of cultural and leisure activity information: information about event and exposition dates, restaurants, etc. marketed through the Website Tripadvisor.com.;
- tourist travel sales: sales of airline tickets, hotel booking, and vehicle rentals (expedia.com, hotels.com, hotwire.com, and Classic Vacations). The group also offers services adapted for businesses (Egencia);
- management of an online hotel price comparison site (trivago).
The United States account for 63.5% of net sales.
