Evergy line crews are currently in the field actively working to restore outages from Tuesday night's storm.

As it moved through the service area, the storm caused 53,000 outages, with the most happening in Wichita and the Kansas City area. Liberty, Mo had some of the most significant damage from these storms. Crews immediately began to work on power restoration and had power restored to 85% of affected customers by 6 a.m. As of 11 a.m., Wednesday, fewer than 5,000 customers remain without power 90% of customers have been restored. Our crews will work around the clock until everyone is restored.

Additional storms are possible in our service area. This makes it challenging to give estimates for full power restoration. Without storm delays, we expect that all customers in the Wichita metro area will have power restored by late tonight and that restoration to all customers in the Kansas City metro area will be complete overnight. If more storms and rain arrive, that may delay restoration times. Evergy crews will continue to work as long as it is safe.

Evergy has all available crews and contractors working to restore power. We also have teams canvassing areas to assess storm damage and vegetation crews working to remove trees or downed limbs in the field.

Evergy urges customers to be safe. With the Fourth of July this week and families planning outdoor celebrations, be especially aware of potential for downed power lines due to storms. People must stay at least 30 feet away from a downed power line and should assume that any downed line is still energized.
