Equatorial Para Distribuidora de Energia SA, formerly Centrais Eletricas do Para SA CELPA, is a Brazil-based company involved in the energy sector. The Company is mainly engaged in the distribution and generation of electric energy for residential, commercial, industrial and rural consumption. The Companyâs concession area covers the entire Brazilian state of Para, including approximately 7.7 million people in 143 municipalities. As of December 31, 2011, CELPA operated 11 thermal power stations with installed capacity of 22.47 megawatts and served approximately 1.84 million consumers. The Company is part of the Rede Energia Group. As of December 31, 2011, the Company was under the process insolvency. On November 1, 2012, Equatorial Energia SA closed the acquisition of a 61.37% stake in the share capital of the Company.
